Abstract:

The present resaerch was designed to evaluate the effects of Inactivated  Spot White Virus with radiation (gamma irradiant WSSV) on survival rate and immunity factors(THC, TPP, PO, SOD, POD) of white leg shrimp. The experiment was done in Bandar Imam Khomeini hatcheries from November 2013 until February 2014.  In this study, the survival rate and immunological parameters of shrimp that exposed to Inactivated  Spot White Virus with radiation were compared with the control group. Based on the challenge test results, the vaccinated shrimp had a higher survival rate than the control group. Results indicated that survival rate and immune parameters such as total hemocyte count(THC), total protein plasma (TPP), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, peroxidase activity(POD) and phenoloxidase activity (PO) were higher than the control groups . Also the immunity factors increased during the period from day 1 to day 25 significantly. Therefore, this experiment concluded that gamma irradiant WSSV is effective immunostimulants in white leg shrimp Litopenaeus Vannamei.

Effects of dietary astaxanthin on the immune response, resistance to white spot syndrome virus and transcription of antioxidant enzyme genes in Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei

Three different experiments were conducted to study the effect of dietary astaxanthin on the immune response, resistance to white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) and transcription of antioxidant enzyme genes in Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. Each experiment included one triplicate treatment group (fed with 80 mg/kg astaxanthin supplemented diet) and one triplicate control group (fed with...

Dietary effects of seaweed Sargassum ilicifolium on reducing cholesterol level of white leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei)

In this research, the nutritional effects of Sargassum ilicifolium Chabahar Bay, Oman Sea, on cholesterol levels of white-leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) were studied. The seaweed was collected from coastal areas, rinsed, dried, powdered and the nutritional values were measured in the laboratory. A part of protein resources of shrimp feed replaced with seaweed powder in four treatments (D: as...

Effects of methamidophos on acetylcholinesterase activity, behavior, and feeding rate of the white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei).

The toxicity of methamidophos on the shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei was evaluated using acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity, behavior, and feeding rate as effect criteria. The biochemical characterization of the soluble cholunesterase (ChE) present in both muscle and eye tissues of L. vannamei was performed in a first phase of the study. In both tissues, almost full inhibition of enzyme activity ...
